Barnes & Caivana Named NEAC Basketball Players of the Week

LATHAM, N.Y. – Keuka College’s James Barnes and Cazenovia College’s Danielle Caivana collect the first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) men’s and women’s basketball Player of the Week honors for the 2019-20 campaign.

James Barnes (Rochester, N.Y.) averaged 27 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists while shooting 63-percent from the field and 75-percent from the free throw for the Wolves last week. The junior had a career-high 29 points (11-of-17) in a 95-86 loss to Cabrini on Saturday. Barnes scored 25 points, pulled down eight rebounds and added three assists in a 94-74 loss to Hiram on Sunday. Barnes was also named to the All-Tournament Team at the Finger Lakes Classic hosted by Wells College.

Danielle Caivana (Frankfort, N.Y.) averaged 23.5 points, 7.5 assists, five rebounds, and one steal in a 1-1 week for the Wildcats to open the season. The senior shot 55-percent from the field, 40-percent from 3-point range and 90-percent from the free throw line. Against SUNY Canton, Caivana had 21 points, 10 assists and five rebounds in the 76-71 win. Caivana opened the season with 26 points, five assists, and five rebounds in a 77-62 loss to SUNY Postdam on Friday. The senior guard was also named to the All-Tournament Team at the Kevin Fee/Roo Classic.


The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has 12 NCAA Division III member institutions which include: Cazenovia College, Gallaudet University, Keuka College, Lancaster Bible College, Morrisville State, Penn College, Penn State Abington, Penn State Berks, Penn State Harrisburg, SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Poly, and Wells College. Associate members are: Alfred State (M Lacrosse), Cedar Crest College (W Swimming), College of Saint Elizabeth (M Tennis & M Volleyball), D’Youville College (W Lacrosse), Hilbert College (M&W Lacrosse), Medaille College (M&W Lacrosse), Rutgers University – Camden (M Golf), SUNY Potsdam (M Volleyball) and Wilson College (M Volleyball).
