Dennis, DeLand Honored with NEAC Basketball Weekly Awards

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in men’s and women’s basketball for the week ending Feb. 10. This week’s honorees include student-athletes from Morrisville State and Cazenovia College.                                                             

Kevin Dennis (Bronx, N.Y.) from Morrisville State has been named NEAC Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season after leading the Mustangs to a 3-0 week in conference play. Dennis had three double-doubles on the week that included back-to-back 30-plus point performances against Wells College and Penn College. The Mustangs’ junior forward averaged 26.7 points and 17.0 rebounds per game across the week. In three games, Dennis totaled 80 points, 51 rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocks. He also shot 73.9 percent from the field and 80.0 percent from the free-throw line.  

Morgan DeLand (Camillus, N.Y.) from Cazenovia College has been selected as the NEAC Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week with 62 points and 34 rebounds in a 3-0 week for the Wildcats. After recording 14 points and five rebounds in a non-conference win against SUNY Delhi, the senior forward added 14 points and 14 rebounds in a victory over Penn State Berks. DeLand closed out the week with 34 points and 15 rebounds against Penn College to finish the week with an average of 20.7 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. DeLand also shot 53.7 percent from the floor with five assists and 11 steals on the week.


The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has 12 NCAA Division III member institutions which include: Cazenovia College, College of Saint Elizabeth, Gallaudet University, Keuka College, Lancaster Bible College, Pennsylvania College of Technology, Pennsylvania State University – Abington, Pennsylvania State University – Berks, SUNY Cobleskill, Morrisville State, SUNY Polytechnic Institute, and Wells College. Associate members are: Cedar Crest College (W Swimming), D’Youville College (W Lacrosse), Hilbert College (M&W Lacrosse), Medaille College (M&W Lacrosse), Rutgers University – Camden (M Golf), and Wilson College (M Volleyball).
