Branca, Bauer Receive Final NEAC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced Gianna Branca and Kaylie Bauer as its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in women's lacrosse for the week ending April 29. This week marks the final weekly awards for women's lacrosse.

Gianna Branca (Camillus, N.Y.) from Morrisville State College is the NEAC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week with 16 points to lead the Mustangs to a 2-0 week. The senior attacker scored seven goals and added four assists for 11 points in a 24-7 win against Penn State Abington. Over the weekend, Branca added three goals and two assists against Bryn Athyn to become the all-time single-season leader with 114 points. In her two games, Branca went 4-for-6 in free positions, picked up seven ground balls while recording five draw controls and seven caused turnovers.

Kaylie Bauer (Lancaster, N.Y.) from Medaille College has been recognized as the NEAC Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week as the leader of the Mavericks’ defense during a 3-0 week that included two NEAC victories. The senior defender opened the week with eight ground balls and six caused turnovers in a 23-7 win over D’Youville.  On the final day of the regular season, Bauer added four ground balls and four caused turnovers in a critical 14-13 conference win over Keuka College that gave the Mavericks the No. 2 seed in the NEAC Tournament.
