Penn State Abington Basketball Teams to Host Pink Zone Games

ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men’s and women’s basketball teams have joined the “Pink Zone” team in partnership with the Penn State University Lady Lions and the Barnes & Noble bookstore throughout the Penn State campus system in a combined effort to raise breast cancer awareness and funds in support of cancer research.

The 2013 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Pink Zone at Penn State Abington will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, as the Nittany Lions take on North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) rival Penn State Berks at the Lion’s Den Gymnasium.

Last year, through a coalition of Penn State campuses, the Lady Lions donated nearly $30,000 for breast cancer causes. This year's fundraising efforts will benefit the Mount Nittany Medical Center, Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and Lewistown Hospital.

For more information on the Pink Zone at Penn State or to make a donation to the cause, visit the official Pink Zone website at

As part of a continuing community service program within the athletic department, student-athletes are involved in a variety of service programs, benefiting both the campus and surrounding communities.
