Gallaudet Wins Women's Volleyball, SUNYIT Win's Men's Soccer & Keuka Win's Women's Soccer

The North Eastern Athletic Conference concluded its women’s volleyball season with first-round, semi-final and championship action on Friday and Saturday.  Gallaudet University wins their first NEAC championship and advances to the NCAA tournament after capturing the NEAC title.  In men’s soccer, SUNY Institute of Technology wins their first NEAC men’s soccer championship which was concluded after a long battle against conference rival Penn State Harrisburg in the 1-1 double overtime battle where SUNYIT won during the penalty kick shootouts 4-3.  In women’s soccer, Keuka College wins the NEAC title in the 2-0 win over Penn State Harrisburg.  SUNYIT and Keuka advance to the NCAA tournament accepting the NEAC automatic bid.

First Round Games:

Semi Final Games:
#1 SUNY Institute of Technology defeated #4 Keuka College 1-0
#2 Penn State Harrisburg defeated #3 Penn State Abington 4-1

Championship Game:
#1 SUNY Institute of Technology defeats #2 Penn State Harrisburg 1-1 2OT (advances on PKs 4-3)

SUNYIT’s goalkeeper Malick Faye receives the tournament MVP award completing the 2 games with one shutout, 1 goal against, 0.50 goal against average, 6 saves and a crucial stop during the penalty kicks helping his team advance to the NCAA tournament.

2010 WOMENS SOCCER TOURNAMENT

First Round Games:

#4 Penn State Harrisburg defeated #5 Cazenovia 1-1 2OT (advances on PKs 5-4)

Semi Final Games:
#4 Penn State – Harrisburg defeated #1 SUNY Institute of Technology 2-1
#3 Keuka College defeated #2 Penn State Berks 1-0

Championship Game:
#3 Keuka College defeated #4 Penn State Harrisburg 2-0

Keuka’s #10 a sophomore forward, Nicole Sharick receives the tournament MVP honor completing the tournament with 3 games, 4 goals, 1 assist, 9 points, and 2 game winning goals.  Sharick also received one NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week selection and NEAC All-Conference First Team Honors.

2010 WOMENS VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

#1 S Gallaudet University defeated #2 N SUNY Institute of Technology 3-1 (25-17, 25-14, 20-25, 25-20)
#2 S Penn State Berks defeated #1 N Keuka College 3-2 (18-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-23, 15-8)

Championship Game:
#1 S Gallaudet University defeated #2 S Penn State Berks 3-1 (25-27, 25-12, 25-14, 25-18)

Gallaudet University’s #13 Paige Johnson, a junior setter, received the tournament Most Valuable Player award for her consistent play throughout the tournament and leading the Bison to the NEAC title and a trip to the NCAA tournament.  She finished the tournament playing 2 games with 77 assists (9.62/game), 23 digs (2.87/game), 5 aces, 4 kills, 1 error, 15 attacks, .267 attack %, and 4 total blocks.  Johnson also received 3 NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week selections, NEAC All-Conference South Division First Team, and NEAC South Division Regular Season Player of the Year awards.
