Miller, O'Loughlin Earn First NEAC Men's Volleyball Weekly Awards of 2019

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced Nate Miller and Caden O'Loughlin as its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in men’s volleyball for the week ending Jan. 27. This week marks the first set of weekly awards for men’s volleyball in the 2019 season.

Nate Miller (Lititz, Pa.) from Lancaster Bible has been recognized as the NEAC Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week after helping the Chargers pick up four wins in the first two weeks, including three victories over teams that have been nationally ranked this season. Miller recorded 56 kills in the four matches he played in and averaged 4.67 kills per set to total 62.5 points since the start of the season. The Chargers’ senior posted a .346 hitting percentage while adding five service aces, two assists, 16 digs and three block assists in games against MSOE, Arcadia, Penn State Altoona and Marymount (Va.).

Caden O’Loughlin (Louisville, Ky.) from Wells College has been named the NEAC Men’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week with 53 digs in six matches to start the 2019 season. The junior outside hitter recorded double-digits in digs on two occasions with 17 against D’Youville and 10 against Geneva. O’Loughlin also had three solo blocks and five block assists to help the Express go 4-2 through the first two weeks of the season. In addition to his defensive efforts, O’Loughlin has also been a major contributor for the Wells’ offense with 82 kills, four assists and 10 aces in his first six matches.
