Maloney, Thayer Receive NEAC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced Mackenzie Maloney and Ally Thayer as its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in women's lacrosse for the week ending April 22.

Mackenzie Maloney (Huntington, N.Y.) from Wells College is the NEAC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week. The junior midfielder recorded 10 goals and nine assists to figure into 19 of the 26 goals by Wells College last week. Maloney tallied six points in an 18-9 loss at Keuka College before adding 13 points in a 17-14 win over Lancaster Bible over the weekend. She also picked up eight ground balls, seven draw controls and three caused turnovers in the pair of conference games. 

Ally Thayer (Rome, N.Y.) from Keuka College has been recognized as the NEAC Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week with a 2-0 record in goal last week. In an 18-9 win over Wells on April 18, the junior goalie made 11 saves. Later in the week against Lancaster Bible, Thayer recorded eight saves and allowed two goals in just under 40 minutes of action to earn the win. She finished the week with 19 saves and a .633 save percentage.
