NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week for 01-24-11
The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announces student-athlete of the week selections for the week ending Sunday, January 23, 2011 in the sports of men’s and women’s basketball and men’s and women’s swimming & diving.
Terry Harrison (Brooklyn, NY) was selected as the NEAC
Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week. Harrison,
a 6’5” Junior forward for the Wells College
Express, was selected for his strong offensive play
leading his team to a 3-0 week (2-0 in conference play).
Harrison finished the week with 74 points (24.6/game), 31 rebounds
(10.3/game), 9 assists (3/game), 6 steals (2/game), 4 blocks
(1.3/game), 1-for-2 from three point range (.500 percent),
18-for-26 (.692 percent) from the foul line and 0.591 shooting
percentage. Harrison receives this award for the second time
this season.
Ashley Roser (Taberg, NY) was selected as the NEAC
Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week. Roser, a
5’9” freshman forward for the Wells College
Express was selected for her strong offensive
performance leading her team 1-2 (1-1 in conference play). She
finished the week with 82 points (27.3/game), 38 rebounds
(12.6/game), 12 assists (4/game), 5 steals (1.6/game). 14 blocks
(4.6/game), a .405 shooting percentage, and 26-for-34 from the free
throw line. Roser receives this award for the third time this
season.
Brian Bennett (Colorado Springs, CO) was selected as the
NEAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Student-Athlete of the Week
for his two first place finishes for his Gallaudet
University Bison in their tough loss against Hood
College. Bennett, a junior, finished first in the 500-yard
freestyle with a time of 5:08.23, and also claimed first in the 200
yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.37. Bennett receives this
awards for the fourth time this season.
Carlisle Robinson (Carmel, IN) was selected as the NEAC
Women’s Swimming and Diving Student-Athlete of the Week for
her five first place finishes for herGallaudet
University Bison. In their, 155-49 victory over
College of St. Elizabeth, Robinson (a senior) finished first in the
1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:58.10, first in the 200 yard
butterfly with a time of 2:50.22, and teamed up for a first place
finish in 400 medley relay with a time of 5:16.74. In their 102-100
loss against Hood College, Robinson finished first in the 100-yard
backstroke with a time of 1:11.95, and first in the 100-yard
butterfly with a time of 1:12.23.
