NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week for 12-06-10

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announces student-athlete of the week selections for the week ending Sunday, November 21, 2010 in the sports of men’s and women’s basketball and men’s and women’s swimming & diving.

Calvin Logins (Lyons, NY) was selected as the NEAC Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week.  Logins, a 5’11” senior forward for the SUNY Institute of Technology Wildcats, was selected for his strong offensive despite the team’s 1-3 record this week (1-1 in conference play).  Logins finished the week with 97 points (24.3/game), 28 rebounds (7/game), 8 assists (2/game), 11 steals (2.8/game), 17-for-25 from the free throw line (0.68 free throw shooting percentage), and a .606 shooting percentage.

 


Ashley Roser (Taberg, NY) was selected as the NEAC Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week. Roser, a 5’9” freshman forward for the Wells College Express was selected for her strong offensive performance despite the team’s three losses.  She finished the week with 80 points (26.7/game), 48 rebounds (16/game), 4 assists, 6 steals (2/game), 9 blocks (3/game), a .483 shooting percentage, and 22-for-29 (.758 shooting percentage) from the free throw line.  Roser receives this award for the second time this season finishing the week with three straight double-doubles.

 


Brian Bennett (Colorado Springs, CO) was selected as the NEAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Student-Athlete of the Week for his two first place and one third place finishes for his Gallaudet University Bison in their double dual meet with York and Penn State Altoona. Bennett, a junior, finished first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.93, first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:07.19, and third in the 200 yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:36.25.  Bennett receives this award for the second time this season.

 


Kristin King (Denville, NJ) was selected as the NEAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Student-Athlete of the Week for her five first place, 1 second place, and 1 third place finishes for herCollege of St. Elizabeth Screaming Eagles in their meets against John Jay, Old Westbury, Drew, and FDU.  King, a sophomore, finished first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:18.03, first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:53.66, fist in 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 12:03.43, first in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:08.02 (a new school record), first in the 400 yard individual medley with a time of 5:12.66 (a new school record), 2nd in the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 19:56.02, 3rd in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:53.21 (a new school record).
