NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week Selection For 02/01/10
GANSEVOORT, NY – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announces student-athlete of the week selections for the week ending Sunday, January 31, 2010 in the sports of men’s and women’s basketball.
JUAN PAULINO (Bronx, NY) was selected as the NEAC
Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week. Paulino, a
senior center for the Wells College
Express, led his team to a 1-0 week against NEAC
opponents. In their only contest, a 114-88 win over PSU Harrisburg,
Paulino tallied 19 points and 18 rebounds. He also added 5 steals,
3 assists, 3 rebounds and a .818 shooting percentage in the
performance that put the Express into second place in the NEAC
standings. Paulino receives this award for the second time this
season.
COLLEEN CLARKE (Johnson City, NY) was selected as
the NEAC Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week.
Clarke, a senior guard for the Cazenovia College
Wildcats, led her team to a perfect 3-0 week against
NEAC opponents and helped extend the Wildcats conference winning
streak to five games. She finished the week with 89 points
(29.7/game), 21 rebounds (7.0/game), 13 steals (4.3/game), 8
assists, 9-for-16 from beyond the arc (.563 percentage from 3-point
range), 10-for-13 from the charity stripe (.769 percentage from the
free throw line), and a .583 shooting percentage. She began the
week with a tremendous effort against SUNY Cobleskill, pouring in
28 points and adding 5 rebounds and 4 steals. She continued in
impressive style with 23 points, 7 steals and 5 assists in a 94-65
win over Penn State Berks. In the final game of the week, an 80-50
win over Penn State Abington, Clarke had 38 points and 12 rebounds.
Clarke receives this award for the fourth time this season.
