North Eastern Athletic Conference Student-Athlete of the Week Selections
GANSVOORT, NY – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announces student-athlete of the week ending Sunday, April 20, 2008 in the sports of men's golf, men's baseball, and women's softball.

Shane Woodman (Marrietta, PA) was selected as the NEAC Golf Student-Athlete of the Week. Woodmen, a freshman for Penn State – Harrisburg Nittany Lions, lead his team to a 3-0 record on the week. Woodman contributed to the school record team score of 309 in a match at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course this week defeating Susquehanna (327), Penn State – Berks (357), and Baptist Bible (358) as well as setting an individual school record of 75 on a par-72 course.
Nelson Gomez (Rio Grande, PR) was selected as the NEAC Baseball Student-Athlete of the Week. Gomez, a junior third baseman for Keystone College Giants, was selected for his outstanding work at the plate and in the field. Gomez helped to lead his team to a 5-1 week overall (3-1 in conference play) with a .643 batting average, 18 hits for 28 at-bats, 12 runs, 3 doubles, 6 homeruns, 18 RBIs, a 1.393 slugging percentage, 2 walks, 2-for-2 stolen bases, and a .666 on-base percentage.  In the field, Gomez had 6 putouts, 9 assists, and 3 errors for a .833 fielding percentage for the week. Gomez went 5 hits for 6 at-bats with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored versus Misericordia. As the designated hitter against Philadelphia Biblical University, Gomez, went 7 for 10 at-bats with 10 RBIs and 3 homeruns which tied thee records] for Keystone by a designated hitter. Gomez also went 5 for 8 at-bats with 4 RBIs, 2 homeruns and 2 runs scored against Cazenovia.
Sarah Engelsman (Coudersport, PA) was selected as the NEAC Softball Student-Athlete of the Week.  Engelsman, a senior third baseman/short stop for Wilson College Phoenix, was selected for her outstanding work on at the plate and in the field this week helping lead her team to a 3-3 conference record on the week. At bat, Engelsman finished the week with a .684 batting average, 13 hits for 19 at-bats, 9 runs, 1 double, 2 triples, 7 RBIs, a .723 slugging percentage, 4 walks, 7-for-7 stolen bases, and an .894 on-base percentage. In the field, Engelsman had 8 putout, 11 assists, and 3 errors for a .845 fielding percentage for the week.  Engelsman had an outstanding week for the Phoenix and as the sole senior is a true leader on the field.
