North Eastern Athletic Conference Student-Athlete of the Week Selections
GANSVOORT, NY – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announces student-athlete of the week ending Sunday, April 6, 2008 in the sports of men's baseball and women's softball.

Nigel Spahr (Morristown, NY) was selected as the NEAC Baseball Student-Athlete of the Week. Spahr, a freshman pitcher/centerfielder for D’Youville College, was selected for his outstanding work on the mound, at the plate and in the field. Despite the teams 1-3 conference record Spahr finished the week with a .303 batting average, 4 hits for 13 at-bats, 2 runs, 2 RBIs, a .303 slugging percentage, 1 walk and a .357 on-base percentage.  In the field, Spahr had 5 putouts, 5 assists and 0 errors for a 1.000 fielding percentage for the week. On the mound, Spahr recorded a 1-0 week with 1 game appearances and 1 game starts. Spahr allowed 0 runs, 0 earned runs, held opponents to a .100 batting average, while striking out 10 and an ERA of 0.00. Spahr tossed a three-hit shutout and struck out 10 in D’Youville’s first conference win of the season. This was the first shutout of an opponent in almost eight years for D’Youville.
Kaila Buffis (Pittsfield, MA) was selected as the NEAC Softball Student-Athlete of the Week. Buffis, a junior shortstop for Cazenovia College, was selected for her outstanding work at the plate and in the field this week helping lead her team to a 2-2 conference record on the week. At bat, Buffis finished the week with a .500 batting average, 7 hits for 14 at-bats, 5 runs, 2 doubles, 2 triples, 4 RBIs, a .929 slugging percentage, 1 walk and a .533 on-base percentage. In the field, Buffis had 4 putouts, 11 assists and 2 errors for a .882 fielding percentage for the week. Buffis was 3 hits for 4 at-bats with 2 RBIs, 2 runs and 2 doubles in the game two loss to Penn State – Berks and went 4 hits for 5 at-bats with 2 RBIs, 3 runs and 2 triples in the game two win over Wilson College.
