Student-Athlete of the Week Selections
GANSVOORT, NY – The North
Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announces player-of-the-week selections
for week ending Sunday, September 30, 2007 in the sports of men's and women’s cross country,
men's golf, men’s and women’s soccer, women's tennis, and women’s volleyball.

Susan Bolgi (Lititz, PA) was selected as the NEAC Women’s Cross Country Student-Athlete of the week for her 16th place of 125 finishers at the 5K – Belmont Classic in Fairmont Park with a time of 21:28, a 6:54 per mile pace, which was also a personal record of her. Bolgi is a sophomore for the Penn State Berks Nittany Lions whose team finished 10th out of 16 teams with a total of 223 team points.Bolgi has continued to improve her time this season each race and has improved her time over 4 ½ minutes since the beginning of the season. Bolgi was Penn State Berk’s top finisher and held off rival runner from Baptist Bible at the finish line. |

Spencer Lunger (Lake Winola, PA) was selected as the NEAC Men’s Golf Student-Athlete of the week for his outstanding performance for the Keystone College Giants. Lunger shot four over par 76 which was good for a tie for 9th place at the Keuka College Tournament at Lakeside Country Club. He led his team to a 3rd place overall finish with a team score of 307. Lunger followed this performance with a tie for 10th place at the Susquehanna University Tournament with a five over par 77. He led his team to a 9th place finish with a total team score of 329. |

Karl Digbeu (Bethesda, MD) was selected as the NEAC Men’s Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week for his strong offensive performance for the Keystone College Giants. Digbeu, a freshman forward, led his team to a 1-1 week (1-0 in conference play) with a total of 7 shots and 1 goal on the week. Digbeu scored the lone goal in a 1-0 double overtime win against conference rival Cazenovia on a penalty kick three minutes into the second overtime period. |

Lacy Standefer (Tompkinsville, PA) was selected as the NEAC Women’s Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week for her offensive performance for the Keystone College Giants. Standefer, a senior forward, had a total of 7 shots and 1goal leading her team to a 1-1 week (1-0 in conference play). She recorded the lone goal in 1-0 victory over conference rival Cazenovia, Keystone’s first conference win of the season. |

Jen Shaughnessy (LeRoy, NY), a senior middle hitter, was selected as the NEAC Women’s Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week for her outstanding performance for the Keuka College Storm. Shaughnessy finished the week playing a total of 12 games, with 42 Kills in 95 attempts with 12 Errors (3.5 kills/game), 8 aces (.67/game), 7 digs (.58/game), 14 total blocks (1.2/game) and 4.96 points per game. Shaughnessy led her team to a 1-2 week (1-1 in conference play). Despite the team’s struggles this week, Shaughnessy had a season-high 19 kills in one match and followed that with 10 and 13 kills in the following two matches. Shaughnessy was also selected for this award the first week of the season. |
